ŁOWICZ – Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble, Melbourne AUS

ŁOWICZ Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble, established in Melbourne in 1975, has a long and rich history of promoting Polish folkloric culture. Łowicz has had the honour of performing at numerous interstate events including the triennial PolArt Festival, and countless festivals and events in Melbourne. Łowicz is an active group within the Polish and wider communities; organising multicultural concerts, galas and various fundraising events.

Since its humble beginnings, the heart of Łowicz lies within the members’ enthusiasm and passion for upholding Polish culture and traditions, and the vision and guidance of the Ensemble’s respected Artistic Directors, both past and present. Currently, the group’s Artistic Director, Edith Drajkopyl, teaches the Senior and Junior group, alongside fellow past member Olivia Winczura who teaches the Junior group.

Although our move to online learning has been challenging in 2020, the group continues to learn theoretical and practical applications of polish dance and has participated in a range of social and team building activities to keep our dancers connected.
