Richard Stacewicz

Richard Stacewicz has been performing for the Polish Festival @ Federation Square in Melbourne since the first Festival in 2004. 

Richard and his band Srebrne Echo (Silver Echoes) have been entertaining the Polish Community for over fifty-five years.  Srebrne Echo play for balls, dances, weddings, engagements, birthdays, funerals, clubs, corporate and private functions.

Richard was seven years old when he started learning the piano accordion.  He studied piano accordion under Tony Andrios with a repertoire including pieces by Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Rimsky-Korsakoff, Bellini, Lecuona, Magnante and Frosini.

Richard was awarded the Diploma of the Piano Accordion Teachers Society of Australia as a fully qualified Piano Accordion teacher in 1967.  Richard completed the Theory of Music exams of The London College of Music and the AMEB at Melbourne University.

Srebrne Echo played for the Polish Debutante Balls at the Royale Ballroom, Exhibition Buildings and St Kilda Town Hall for nineteen years from 1967-1986.  They also played for the Ball Swietojanski at the Leonda Reception for many years.

Srebrne Echo played for the Sacrosong Festivals in Melbourne from 1974-1979, Hobart in 1976 and Adelaide in 1977.  They participated in PolArt 2015 and in the Polish Youth Festival in Marayong, Sydney in 1975.

Richard toured the USA with the Hopak Folkloric Dance Troupe and performed in Disney World, Orlando, Florida, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit and New York in 1994.

Richard also played for the Verchovyna Folkloric Dance group for twenty-one years with performances in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide as well as the Shell Folkloric Celebration at the Melbourne Concert Hall from 1983-1986.

Richard played first accordion with the Accordion Society of Australia Accordion Orchestra and the Melbourne Accordion Orchestra performing in Melbourne and Sydney.

Srebrne Echo (Silver Echoes) are a truly multicultural band entertaining audiences with traditional and folk music not only at Polish Clubs but also at Austrian, German, Dutch, Swiss, Ukrainian, Slovenian, Italian Clubs and at Oktoberfests in Victoria and New South Wales.

Richard is honoured to be part of the Virtual Polish Festival in 2020.
